Ultrawide monitors have become significantly more common since 2022, especially for development work, video editing, and sim racing, and most stock wallpapers from operating systems still ship only in 16:9 — which means a wallpaper either gets stretched, letterboxed, or awkwardly cropped on these displays.

We pick our ultrawide themes specifically for horizontal composition: rice field landscapes where the mountain ridge stretches fully across the screen, coastal scenes with long horizon lines, and wide street scenes with strong perspective. Themes with dense central composition (like cozy interiors) tend to look worse on ultrawide and are kept in the standard collections instead.
